Mother McAuley wins sixth straight regional title

Mother McAuley defeated host Argo 50-34 on Feb. 16 in Summit in a Class 4A regional championship game. Juniors Maeve Egan (18 points), Morgan Feil (9 points), Grace Gambotz (8 points) and Mary Gruber (5 points) and freshman Quinn Arundel (5 points) paced McAuley. Excluding the 2020-21 season that did not include a state postseason, the regional championship was the Mighty Macs’ sixth in a row since 2017. Mother McAuley (21-12) advanced to face top-seed Kenwood Academy (27-5) on Feb. 21, after press time, in a Proviso East sectional semifinal. (Review photo)
